Antifungal shampoo is recommended for all hair types, regardless of if you have dandruff.

  • Background inflammation affects hair follicles and contributes to hair loss. Use of these shampoos reduce scalp irritation and inflammation contributing to better hair growth.

  • Some options include 2% ketoconazole (Nizoral) or Dercos Anti-Dandruff by Vichy

Rosemary oil has evidence to aid with hair growth, but minoxidil is much more effective and is extensively well-studied.

There’s growing evidence that pumpkin seed oil (topical or oral) can improve hair growth.

We should always choose 5% minoxidil over 2%.

  • The 5% solution is associated with greater efficacy without an increase in side effects. Men’s Rogaine works in both genders. Do not fall for the pink tax – it’s the same ingredient.

Try combining your minoxidil with a topical retinol or retinoid to enhance it's efficacy.

  • Do not use too much as it can be irritating.

If you are losing hair from all over your scalp (diffuse hair loss), speak to your doctor.

  • A nutrient deficiency, new medication or stressor may be in the cause.

If you are oiling your hair, do not apply oils all the way to the roots.

Oral finasteride (men), minoxidil or spironolactone (women) may be a great choice for hair loss, but speak to a physician first to determine if and what oral medications may be suitable for your type of hair loss.
